How to calculate Capacity, Target with Target Efficiency ?

Today we are going to discuss the garments production line Capacity, target and target efficiency. I am going to show how to relate the efficiency with the target and capacity. Here we realize with a garment industry efficiency, productivity, formula & calculation with easy examples. Let’s start about the calculation of line, individual and factory capacity and target.

Before start has good to conjecture SMV, Output, Manpower, etc. So suppose, the product of the Lean line SMV=22, Manpower=45, and yesterday Output=750.

(SMV=Observed time X Rating +Allownce%. )

 

1. Capacity

Inline production Capacity

 

SMV=22, Manpower=45 and working Hour= 10, what is the capacity?
    Working hour X Manpower
   ————————————-
                     SMV
    10(Hrs) X 60(Mins) X 45 (Man)
= —————————————-
                     20 (Mins)
 
= 1080 pcs. Per Day

Individual Production Capacity

 
Suppose the operator works Inseam Join. His/her present SMV 51 cm. What is the capacity per hour?
    60 Mins
—————–
Present SMV
 
        60
= ————
        .51
= 118 pcs.

So, the Operator is able to Join Inseam 118 Pcs. per hour.

 

Calculation Capacity, Target formula

Factory Capacity

In this case, if different SMV among the different lines, SMV will be average all lines of the factory.
 
At first, we have to know,
Factory’s Total Capacity in Hour

To calculate the factory’s total capacity in pieces, first, we have to know Factory’s Total Capacity in Hour. The formula is very simple but dynamic.

 
Total Lines X Machines in a line X Daily Working Hour = Factory’s
Total Capacity in
Here, 
Total Lines is 36
Machines in a line 35
Working Hour 10
As above,
Factory’s Total = 36×35×10 hours = 12600 hours

 

Factory’s Total Capacity in pieces = 
[(Factory’s Total Capacity in Hour × 60/SAM of Product × Average Line Efficiency)× 3 Months

To achieve the target efficiency level 70% need the operator 82 pcs the inseam join.

=1227 X 80 %    (Here, 1227 is directly observed capacity)
 
=982 pcs in a day

 

To achieve the target efficiency level of 70% in a day, need
produces 859 pcs from the Line.

So, Target Efficiency = 70%

In this case, if different SMV among the different lines, SMV will be average all lines of the factory.
 
Suppose to,
Total Lines = 26
Average SMV of the factory is 25.00
Manpower = 23 X 45 = 1,035
 
 
Working Hour X Total Manpower

        621000
= ——————- X 80%
           .25
=24840 X 80 %    (Here, 24,080 is capacity)
=19,872 pcs in a day from whole factory Sewing Lines.

To achieve target efficiency level 80% in a day need
output 19,872 pcs from the Line.
